I met Kristine a few months back as a referral from the Vancouver Wedding of Kathleen and Rob that I photographed three years ago. Kristine came to the studio with her best friend Angela since Patrick lives in the States and we talked wedding detail and ideas, I was so happy when she emailed me to ask me to be their photographer. A few weeks before the wedding I received an email from Kristine saying that their Venue had a fire and that they were on the search for a new venue, it was such a calm email saying, ” Well I guess there is a glitch in every wedding we will find something.” Wow I thought to myself this has to be the most laid back couple ever! Well good karma came back to them because their day went off without a hitch. Starting will beautiful hair and makeup from Pamper Me Pretty to a spectacular venue at the Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club to the fabulous cake from Sweet Thea. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day with an amazing couple and a awsome wedding party! Thanks to Fran Chelico for second shooting with me, you rock.
This is my favorite image from the day.

 Amazing light at the church

 A quick wardrobe change
If you've never had cake from Sweet Thea your life in not complete.

Kevin and Michelle are two of the most easy going people I think I’ve ever met, and it’s obvious after spending some time with them that they are totally in love. I headed out with them a couple of weeks ago to do an e- session here are a couple of my favorite photos. I can’t wait until the wedding!

I’m lucky enough that I get to see couples in love all the time, but every once and a while you meet a couple that you really connect with whose love is so deep that when you watch them together it tugs at your heart strings. That’s what its like to hang out with Kristina and Steven. It’s obvious from the minute you see them together that they are madly in love , the stolen glances, the reassuring hugs and just the way they interact with each other is truly amazing to watch. I met Kristina at a chance meeting when I was hosting my brothers birthday party in September. Kristina mentioned that she was getting married in the spring and me being a Vancouver Wedding Photographer said, ” I’m a wedding photographer.” Kristina then so kindly threw in “oh but we are getting married in Hungry, at a castle between Budapest and Vienna,” my heart skipped a beat and I said ” I travel for weddings.” Flash forward to just after Christmas I met with Kristina and Steven to discuss the possiblity of photographing their wedding. The rest was history. In exactly one month from today I’ll be boarding a plane Europe bound to photograph this amazing couple. Im counting the days till the wedding as I’m sure they are, I’m so honored to be photographing your wedding, and to now be able to call you friends.

I photographed Natalie and Steve’s Vancouver Wedding almost three years ago. A year later I received a call that they were having a baby and we met up for some maternity photos and then a newborn session. My favorite part of being a photographer is that I get to share in the most joyous and intimate parts of people’s lives. Getting to see the love people share during their wedding day and then getting called years later to see their families grow is such a gift and I feel truly blessed every time I reconnect with past clients.
A few weeks ago, Steve, Natalie and their beautiful baby girl Ava came to the studio to do a session. Then on Sunday they came back with their brand new little bundle of joy Emily.
Thank you so much for letting me into your lives to photograph your growing family.
 How adorable is Ava!

She didn't really want to sit for a family portrait though.

 Introducing baby Emily

Ava had her own ideas again for this family photo but I love it!

The greatest compliment as a photographer that I can receive is when a past wedding client refers me to a new couple. The gorgeous Kasia and Patrick, whose Vancouver Wedding I photographed almost two years ago referred me to Heather and Eric and it was only a few short months ago at my Vancouver studio that Heather came in to see me. I could tell from our conversation that the day was going to be perfect. I finally got to meet Eric last week when I met them at the beautiful Monk McQueens to check out the location a have a quick chat about the day, I could tell from the moment that I saw them together that the day was going to be perfect, the amount of chemistry that these to exuded was insane. Well Saturday came the sun was shining and the wedding was one of the most amazing weddings I’ve photographed. Their family and friends were so gracious to Kari and I and you could feel the love and warmth surrounding Heather and Eric. Here are some of my favorite from the day, thank you so much for allowing us to capture your special day it was so much fun we didn’t want to leave!

When I was five years old on my first day of kindergarden I met my life long friend Virna, through ups and downs we have remained friends for over 27 years, I can’t imagine my life without her she is like the sister I never had, she is my confidant, the person that I can’t wait to tell exciting news to, and someone who I look to for advice when everything is up in the air. Sadly we haven’t lived in the same city for over 8 years, but when we get together the little kids in us still comes out with fits of laughter and ridiculous adventures. Well enough about her and I and onto Ryan and Virna they are the perfect match, two people who without each other neither really make sense, they are each others best friend, (I’m willing to share) and once you spend time with them you can see how much they really love each other with the adoring looks and the cute messages. Virna and Ryan had been dating for about 3 years when I got and email at my aunts in England saying she was engaged. I immediatley called her for all the details and set out to help plan a wedding. After much debate they decided to get married in Cozumel Mexico. It was December 13, 2008 and this is their Happy Anniversary Blog post! When I looked at the resort I was so excited, as a photographer I couldn’t stop thinking about all of the amazing possibilities of photographing a wedding in Mexico, but then realization set in, how do I photograph their wedding and still be in it? Well it wasn’t easy, tripods, remote transmitters and some careful planing is how it was done, it was the most self induced stressful day of my life, curlers in my hair camera around my neck I don’t think i’ve ever felt so ridiculous in all my life, but every second was worth it to see my closest friend marry her soul mate. I love you both and wish you a life filled with love, laughter and good health.
Here are some of my favorite pictures from the day. ( I was under very strict rules to have fun, so we did most of the portraits the day after)

 They are the cutest!

In an age where everyone has a digital camera many people feel they can hire just anyone to photographer their Vancouver Wedding, and they question why are Vancouver Wedding Photographers so expensive?
Here is a basic cost breakdown for a typical eight hour Vancouver Wedding.
Typically a Vancouver Wedding Photographer meets with the bride and groom several times before and after the wedding, there is usually a consultation, multiple emails back and forth, a pre wedding walk through or an engagement session.
Then the eight hours on the wedding day plus travel time to the wedding and back.
The next step a Vancouver Wedding Photographer will take is to spend time downloading, backing up files, blogging, and editing, for most professional Vancouver wedding photographers this is approximately 25 to 30 hours.
When all the time is added up a typical Vancouver Wedding Photographer will spend 30 to 40 hours per wedding.
Your photographer is more that just your photographer for the day they are typically looked to for advice on how the day will run and what vendors to hire, the wedding photographer will generally become your portrait photographer for life, someone who documents your growing family for generations.

It’s really close to crunch time for me, I’m leaving for Copenhagen in less the 24 hours and have two photoshoots and all my packing still to do, but wanted to get this post up before I leave! I’ve been so blessed this year with the absolute most easy going couples and Wayne and Tanya carried on the trend. Their day started out at the Unitarian Church of Vancouver, followed by portraits around Downtown Vancouver and then the reception at Floata Restaurant in Chinatown.
This is the raw camera image, the light was amazing
