Vancouver Wedding Photography| Why are Vancouver Wedding Photographers so expensive

November 24, 2009 at 11:41 pm by Daniela

In an age where everyone has a digital camera many people feel they can hire just anyone to photographer their Vancouver Wedding, and they question why are Vancouver Wedding Photographers so expensive?

Here is a basic cost breakdown for a typical eight hour Vancouver Wedding.

Typically a Vancouver Wedding Photographer meets with the bride and groom several times before and after the wedding, there is usually a consultation, multiple emails back and forth, a pre wedding walk through or an engagement session.

Then the eight hours on the wedding day plus travel time to the wedding and back.

The next step a Vancouver Wedding Photographer will take is to spend time downloading, backing up files, blogging, and editing, for most professional Vancouver wedding photographers this is approximately 25 to 30 hours.

When all the time is added up a typical Vancouver Wedding Photographer will spend 30 to 40 hours per wedding.

Your photographer is more that just your photographer for the day they are typically looked to for advice on how the day will run and what vendors to hire, the wedding photographer will generally become your portrait photographer for life, someone who documents your growing family for generations.

Lucia-Anna and Bryce Vancouver Wedding| Vancouver Wedding Photography

I was excited to work with the fabulous Fran Chelico for the wedding of Lucia-Anna and Bryce. The day started out at the beautiful St Francis of Assisi Parish in Vancouver followed by the reception at the Diamond Alumni Centre at SFU. Luckily the weather held up following the ceremony and we were able to catch some amazing light up at SFU for the portraits prior to the reception starting. I always love when I find new and exciting place to photograph couples on their wedding and Fran and I found a great spot to do some killer portraits of the pair. Here are some of the highlights from the day.

I always give myself little projects of the day when shooting today was reflections.

Wayne and Tanya’s Vancouver Wedding | Vancouver Wedding Photography

It’s really close to crunch time for me, I’m leaving for Copenhagen in less the 24 hours and have two photoshoots and all my packing still to do, but wanted to get this post up before I leave! I’ve been so blessed this year with the absolute most easy going couples and Wayne and Tanya carried on the trend. Their day started out at the Unitarian Church of Vancouver, followed by portraits around Downtown Vancouver and then the reception at Floata Restaurant in Chinatown.

Jennifer and Micheal Seasons in the Park | Vancouver Wedding Photography

October 23, 2009 at 10:01 am by Daniela

I have to apologize first for the lateness of this post and second that it is going to be a short one. I met with Jennifer in the Spring for her September wedding at Seasons in the Park. Jennifer and Micheal were referred to me through past clients whose Vancouver Wedding I was the photographer at  4 years ago, it’s always an honor for me when clients refer me and I’m very blessed that more then half of my weddings come to me as referrals.  I headed out to Queen Elizabeth Park to meet up with the wedding party and take some pre ceremony pictures it was such a fun afternoon with a laid back wedding park. Thank you so much for including me in your day heres a sneak peak of what to come.

Jen and Joel’s Vancouer Wedding | Vancouver Wedding Photographer

October 20, 2009 at 11:25 am by Daniela

When I woke up to the pouring rain, I was really dissapointed, not because it was raining, I actually like shooting in the rain but because I really love Jen and Joel and wanted their day to be perfect for them. As Libby and I headed to Temple Sholom in Vancouver the clouds broke and the rain stopped! We started out by taking photos of Jen getting ready, followed by the ceremony, reception and at the end of the afternoon we headed downtown with the happily married couple to do some portraits. Here are some of my favorite from the day. Thanks you two for being two of the funniest and easy going people i’ve ever met.

Emily and Phil | Vancouver Wedding Photographer

September 19, 2009 at 10:45 am by Daniela

Its rare that I don’t meet a couple until the day of the wedding, but Phil had found me online and booked right away and there wasn’t a chance to meet with them before the day. It was a very sunny and hot Thursday afternoon, when I walked into the backyard of their Vancouver house and finally met them I knew the day was going to be totally easygoing and fun. Emily and Phil have been together for a number of years going through the trials and tribulations of life and they finally decided to tie the knot. They have two stunning children and are surrounded by so many wonderful family and friends, I was honored to be a part of your day. Here are some of my favorite photos.

Kirsten and Max| Vancouver Wedding Photographer

September 17, 2009 at 11:29 am by Daniela

Kirsten and Max are two of the calmest easy going people I’ve ever met, and it’s evident by spending a bit of time with them that they are a perfect match for one another. I met this fantastic couple through, Elana Lancit of  A Sweet Beginning, wedding consulting and event planners http://www.asweetbeginning.com/ The day started out in Surrey where Kirsten got ready at her parents home, we managed to sneak in a bit of time to do some photos in the forest where she would hang out and play when she was younger. Off to one of my favorite sites in Vancouver the amazing Cecil Green Park House, and voila here are some of my favorite shots of the day. Thank you for making my job so easy for me!

Melissa and Andrew-Vancouver Wedding Photographer

September 15, 2009 at 9:40 am by Daniela

When I woke up to rain on Melissa and Andrews wedding I was really heartbroken, they are such a sweet couple I wanted everything to be perfect for them. I met Melissa through her beautiful mom Michelle who I’ve worked with on commercial and fashion shoots, I was so excited when she called me and asked if I would photograph her daughters wedding! Luckily just before we left for the church there was a break in the rain in it held out the rest of the day.

Here are some of my favorites.

Tania and David- Vancouver wedding photography

September 10, 2009 at 11:31 am by Daniela

I adore David and Tania! I can honestly say I have never been to a wedding with so much joy, laughter and tears. It is evident from the moment you meet them that they are meant for each other, the honest and genuine way that they intact with each other to the inside jokes and the stolen glances makes them a perfect match. Keri and I started the day in Yaletown where the girls got ready, then off to meet David  for their  first glance, some quick portraits downtown and finally to the amazing Hart House for the ceremony and reception. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your day I look forward to photographing your growing family.
